THE EVANGELIST AT PAMULANG, TANGERANG

The winter and spring of 2005 found Sudaryono conducting a survey of the suburbs south of Jakarta. He was doing a demographic study to determine areas in which a new work could be started where people would be open to the preaching and teaching of the gospel of Christ. His efforts resulted in identifying two suburbs which fit the criteria. One of these was Pamulang, Tangerang.

As a result of the survey Indonesian Christian Mission began a search for an evangelist to bring on board with the goal of establishing a cell group which hopefully would develop into a Church. Using funds from the general fund budget and the Frith Estate, ICM hired a young graduate of Salitiga Bible College who had already had experience in evangelism. Bintang came on board with ICM in August of 2005. He has made many contacts in the area and has had the joy of baptizing one young person. Bintang is a talented preacher and often leads the worship service at the Ciputat Church.

In January of 2006 Indonesian Christian Mission supplied the funds to rent a house in a neighborhood where Bintang can conduct meetings without resistance from those living around him. He continues to contact young people and families to befriend them and hopefully open the door to preach the gospel of Christ to them.

Bintang is the latest of the Indonesian evangelists hired by Indonesian Christian Mission. He labors under the goal of ICM to have evangelists form churches and have them completely autonomous and financially self supporting within six years of the evangelist being placed on the field.
